Our First Stud boy, and first Shorthaired Pixiebob.
Selecting Mystery Caller (AKA Ollie) was based on pure intuition. I wanted to try and get some fresh American influence to further strengthen and compliment Shenona. I had plans on looking for another longhair Pixiebob, and was still toying with the idea of importing directly from USA. Scanning American breeders websites and forums, I came across an article about a new breeder in the UK. Yes another stroke of luck, lead me to Mystery Caller. I have to admit, at first I wrote him off because he was a shorthair and I was seeking long. However, I had noticed something very different about this litter of UK kittens.
That moody look created by the brow and eye set is the signature of a pixiebob, it's what makes them look wild. It was already very evident in early kitten photos of Mystery, and got better as the weeks passed. I had never seen this in Pixiebob kittens outside of America.
I found myself thinking about the litter frequently. Several weeks passed, and the image of this little guys stuck in my mind. I still had my heart set on a longhaired boy, and continued my search for many months, but found none suitable.
I was still thinking about Mystery, and his litter mates, and came to the conclusion that I should have got him. I was kicking myself for leaving it for so long and missing my chance, he would have been perfect. I returned to the website to add my name to the kitten list, and to my amazement Mystery was still there!
I knew I had to have him, and called the breeder immediately, and look what this chap turned into. When I saw his pedigree for the first time, I got a lump in my throat. All the names were direct USA lines, and not just any lines. He had all the amazing coveted catteries that you could only dream of.
